Orion

Apparently one effect of claiming your Omega is that you can scent her from a long way away, and I discover this halfway across town, just as I’m bringing the bags of savory Aloo Gobi and Butter Chicken back to the car.

I can scent her clearly, the sweet sunshine filling my nostrils and lungs. I can scent her need, too. She’s woken up early than I expected, goddamn that Dr. Macgregor!

I throw the takeaway bags into the car. I’m not a reckless driver but I need to get back to my Omega. The slow noon traffic has never been so infuriating, and I curse myself for not taking my governmental car out with the siren that could clear the road easily.

Just as I pull into the narrow driveway, I see Bo’s sports car tear around the corner and jump the curb with a crunch. He barely misses sending a jagged scrape down the side of my car, screeching to a halt beside me.

“Where’s the groceries?” I ask Bo as I punch the security code.

“Left them in the cart,” he said succinctly. “I knew she needed me.”

I didn’t say anything else, just put my shoulder to the door to make sure it didn’t stick, and we burst into the kitchen. There’s no one there, but I hear noises from the other room, and I catch the scent of Harmony’s distress.

I yank the door to the living room open and see Arch and Harmony on the couch. My body is instantly flooded with hot, urgent Alpha hormones.
